Artist Statement - Lilou Collet
Art and Animation has been a focus in my life since I was a child. Being able to express myself through my art gives me a sense of being my authentic self. I was fortunate enough to have spent a lot of my formative years studying, teaching as an assistant and being part of a community at the Walt Disney Family Museum Educational Department in San Francisco. There I learned the discipline that is required to produce work in animation and various other animation practices. At Terra Linda High School, I have been involved in the art department over my four years there and now as a Senior I am a teacher's assistant to the ceramics department. As an artist, I enjoy all aspects of learning about art and how I fit into this puzzle. It is not easy to push yourself into art forms that make you feel uncomfortable but over the years, I have been able to conquer some of my reservations in various artistic forms. My main focus has always been to be true to what I enjoy doing and how I can improve my craft. I am looking forward to continuing my journey in college where I am certain there will be so many opportunities to learn and grow and become a working artist in the world.
